关键词 Cements;Slags;Refractory materials;Composite materials;Mixing;Sintering;Quenching;High temperature effects;Alumina摘  要This study aims at establishing the optimum mix composition of two types of Egyptian slags [water quenched ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) and air-cooled slag (ACS) ] and two types of calcium aluminate cements left bracket cement 50 (CA50) and cement 80 (CA80)] *.Different proportions (3, 6, 9, and 15 wt.%) from the two slag types were mixed separately to the two types of the high alumina cement.The mechanical, sintering and refractory properties of the pastes prepared from the mixtures ware studied.It was found that the optimum composition is the mix containing about 10 wt.% of any of the slag types for both the calcium aluminate cements which gives good sintering, mechanical and refractory properties.Results envisage the possibility of preparing a refractory concrete from these optimum compositions that can be used either at high temperatures greater than 1500 degree C (CA80) or at limited firing temperatures less than 1500 degree C (CA50).
